I've never been good at this. Sharing online I've always had mixed feelings about but over the years I've wished I didn’t. The brutal truth is I've always loathed myself and been too afraid the world would reject my true self. In reality, I never knew myself and was terrified to explore authentically let alone express it.

I’ve silently suffered great anxiety and depression all of my life but believed that existence was normal. I hid a great sadness from the world and everyone in it. I crafted a happy face to please everyone else, to so desperately fit in, to feel that I belong, but the feeling of belonging never came. I had abandoned myself so greatly, dissociated from painful feelings so intensely that there was nothing left to connect with.

2 years ago everything fell dark. Constantly ill, emotionally void and on the brink of mental breakdown. I was terrified, chronically anxious and felt utterly alone. I was looking for something but had no idea what I was seeking and so I stumbled into a journey that has broken me into a million pieces, taken me through a darkness I never imagined possible bet led me to a wondrous illumination of the magnificence of life, consciousness, what it means to find your authentic self and let go of the ego, let go of the hateful inner voice, let go of perfection, let go of the fear of judgement.

So I post these photos, rising again on Easter Sunday as part of this kind of ‘waking up’ experience I’ve encountered. While it feels amazing to have a healthy and strong body, it is meaningless without a healthy and strong mind. I know now there is no courage in loving your body when you’ve removed all the flaws that irk you. But I remain proud of the hard work I invested in my physical health and I am no longer ashamed to show all of me right back to the man I was only 2 years ago, with a false-hearted smile and no comprehension of what lay ahead.

Maya Bay, the beautiful cove made famous by "The Beach" only started allowing tourists on January 1, 2022 for the first time in more than three years.

There are rules in place now to keep the beach as pure as possible given the larger volume of tourists it's likely to see.

Needless to say, it's beautiful!
